I had no problem removing and reinstalling a '57 bug body to its chassis. (converted to 'IRS' suspension, front discs, new stainless fuel and brake lines, etc in between). I did not need bracing in the doors and do not think it would be necessary unless you are going to do some work on heater channels,and such.
