Guys,

I was just going thru the Chirco parts website and noticed something. They
say you can swap a nondoghouse setup to a doghouse setup by using the adapter
from later engines.

Heres a link:

This thing was going thru my mind lately as I had seen a doghouse engine
without the shroud at the junkyard. If this is possible then I think all Id
need to locate would be an adapter, a nice oil cooler (new ones not available
here unfortunately so Id hafta rely on my junkyard hunt skills) and a doghouse
style fanshroud. Is that it???

Im amazed that if this is true then why is this not advocated during
rebuilds?? Gain is also significant as number 3 cylinder would be safer from
heatup compared to the earlier style setup.

Ill just add in this post that the Chirco website has a very comprehensive
and detailed account of an engine rebuild.

One thing I expected more from this article was details o setting the rocker
geometry which it conviniently skips.

Best wishes and regards to all,
