If your case is small-passage (all pre-B6 singleport
cases were) it'll also be single-relief - not the best
for a doghouse cooler since it lacks the better cooler
overpressurization feature of the dual-relief case,
but you can still convert to doghouse if you want -
just don't rap the engine out when it's cold,
especially if you're running high-viscosity oil.
Singleport cases have 6mm holes in the cooler mounting
"ears", those'll have to be drilled out to 8mm to fit
the doghouse adapter. The short singleport 6mm cooler
stud will need to be replaced with a longer one -
better to drill & tap the case for a proper 8mm stud.
Most importantly, to put a doghouse cooler adapter (or
even a 111 117 021E large-passage SP cooler) on a
small-passage case you'll need a pair of conversion
seals - the only way I know to get them is in a 111
198 029 kit...it'll contain two seals and three
washers - you won't need the washers for this
application, they're for putting a small-passage 111
117 021 cooler on a large-passage case.
Besides the doghouse fan shroud, you'll need the two
pieces of exhaust ductwork and the front tin with a
window in it (or you can cut one in your existing
tin), the "Hoover bit" which seals off the bottom of
the cooler AND the wider cooling fan for full effect.

My personal opinion is that for a stock/near-stock
1300, 1500 or 1600 SP there's not enough benefit to
warrant the conversion (assuming all of the engine
compartment seals are intact, of course)...but the
climate's pretty mild where I live, it'd probably be
worthwhile in the hotlands.
