In the early days of dual-circuit brakes there were differences (stroke length
and presence/absence of residual pressure check valves) but the only
replacement M/C still available for Standard Beetle/Karmann-Ghia/Thing (113 611
015BD) is designed to be "universal". The outlet ports have small restriction
drillings which don't hold residual pressure like the RPVs did, yet slow the
return of fluid to the M/C enough that a low pedal can be "pumped up".
To mount auxiliary lights without drilling any holes you need brackets that'll
bolt up to the bumper brackets. Don't know of any readily available, though,
you may need to fabricate them yourself.
