Asad,

I tend to agree with Zabo that you have a later model Bug. A '68 - '72
perhaps with an older ragtop spliced on. I believe the previous owner would
not have spent the amount of time and money to change a ‘59 into a ‘69. The
rear window, side windows, and windshield looks to me from a later Bug as do
the fenders, bumpers, bumper brackets, front and rear fenders, rear apron
and deck lid, seats, four-bolt wheels, etc., etc. Actually, most everything
about this car screams “late model“! In the US and probably in Europe and
many other countries around the world, VW went to a sliding steel sunroof.

I believe it would be quite possible, or more likely, that a bribe was paid
to get this car registered as a ‘69 to possibly avoid some kind of tax or
levy. A quick check of the VIN should clear up the confusion - unless the
VIN has been changed too!

However, have fun with your project. :o)

Subject: [vintagvw] My 1959 Ragtop Bug project on thesamba.

Hello Volks!
Writing in after a long gap here. The list has been quiet lately, hope
to throw in some life with this post.
My brother Suley (Suleman) was here in Karachi for a visit from
California after seven long years. He left last night.
I have just thrown up a topic on thesamba.com which would have mostly
copy pastes from the local website pakwheels.com to document the project 59
rag. I am hoping to get a lot of positive input and ideas from members
there. It would be great if the listees here can also chime in with their
valuable feedback.
     Heres the link:

Best regards to all,
