Happy New Year, Y'All,

Mike in Alabama especially. There's a pretty good Web site that tries to
keep up with fuel retailers who pump ethanol-free gasoline. (There are also
several useless sites.) If you bring up www.pure-gas.org and put in your
state, you'll get a moderated list. Happily, it's not only major
metropolitan areas. I found a long list of Alabama tiny-towns.

In my area, a number of independents have formed a marketing co-op and
obtained rights to the defunct Pure Oil name and trademarks. They've
replaced some Marathon stations (a similar marketing co-op) and hung new
blue Pure Oil signs--all proclaiming their product ethanol-free. Not the
cheapest, but my 1970 Copbug and 1972 SuperBeetle might both be grateful.
The alcohol-free retailers stock pamphlets explaining why E10 and E15 fuels
can damage some components, and which. They might exaggerate some, but
they're essentially correct in reference to our oldtimers.

Glückliches Neujahr!
