I ran a Porter ignition I bought off ebay about 5 yrs ago, but I don't know if
they still sell to the public. It is an awesome and simple ignition system. My
favorite however is a Crane XR700 optical ignition from Crane of course :)
which is in my 77 Westy. It is incredibly reliable and if Jim Thompson
(OldVolks) says it's good, (which he does), then it's GOT to be good. Jim
doesn't give recommendations easily. Mark Dearing likes them too. Can't beat
those for recommendations.
Good luck,
Courtney

Subject: [vintagvw] Electronic Ignition

Morning Volks,

I am thinking about converting to an electronic ignition because I am tired
dealing with adjusting the points.  How hard is it to install the electronic
ignition and do you have any reccomendations of brands and where to purchase?

I'm sure I will have more questions as I progress.  My bug has not been driven
for about 18 months and I am in the process of getting her started, tune up,
oil chnage all the little maintenance stuff and I figured since I am doing all
that I might as well convert to electronic ignition.....

Thanks,

Chuck
