Erin,

Yeah.  The old hardboard cores make very good patterns.  But it remains
really, really labor-intensive to get a neat job.  I'm still thinking I can
spot-repair the three torn-out holes.  Does anybody have experience in good
ways to do this?  (Or sad experience on how NOT to do this!  We all need to
learn from each other's imperfect  attempts, too!)

Bert - I meant to say then if you remove the covering from the old
fiberboard core, can you use it as a template and re-cover it.  I wonder if
a person can get the raw material and glue on your own backing yourself?
