Hello all, I’m still here in Des Moines, Iowa. I’m still working on my custom ‘56 sunroof Beetle and drive my ‘60 Karmann Ghia when it’s nice.
I’m getting my Beetle ready to paint next spring and I’m thinking flat/satin black. So it almost looks like primer. Any thoughts or problems I might run into painting it myself? Is this paint hard to do? I’ve painted a few things but not a whole car. Love the list and I’m always reading but rarely posting. I have a ‘76 Super Beetle convertible. It spent six years at the body shop, I ended up with a great paint job and a new friend. We ended the transaction as a barter – I provided him computer service he painted my car after replacing too many rusted panels. I got back a painted shell and spent the next 3 years putting it back together – enjoying every night out in the garage working on it.
