It sounds like your generator or voltage (not bilge!) regulator are not
working to keep the batt charged. If you disconnect the batt positive
post with it running and the engine dies, then you're running on your
battery. It could be worn generator brushes.

I've replaced the battery and coil. When I first got it, it was
leaking oil but now it doesn't appear like it is. It still has a good
oil level. The v belt seems tight, per the idiot book, but it seems to
be draining the battery when driving. Could the generator or bilge

Oh yeah, it was converted to 12 volt, but it would appear to be
the most jury-rigged conversion ever.
