Hi Bert, put something that vibrates against the metal part as you try to turn the key gently (something like a cordless drill). This worked for me on an old MB. The vibrations needs to travel thru to the metal parts so use an intermediate piece if neccessary.
This is probably something gummed up and the internal springs are too weak to overcome this. That is why you should not use oil but graphite powder in door locks. Having said that, final solution would be to blast WD40 down the keyhole! Hope it works out!
