Volks,

I have just replaced the Brazilian front hood on my 1970 with a beautiful,
straight 1972 German standard hood. I stripped it, then had it painted. It
actually fits. But now my VW emblem’s pins will not fit into the hood
holes. On the Brazilian hood, there were three little vinyl or polyethylene
plastic sleeves (Tüllen) that the pins fit into.

The “new” (’72) hood has smaller holes (appx 3 mm) that are slightly more
closely spaced (their radius is about 1 mm smaller) that hose of the emblem
(which is a 113 852 601 B). The location is flat, not raised; does that
suggest it was an aftermarket hood? Is there a different VW emblem I should
be hunting? I hate to start carving and drilling on a newly-painted hood.
