Gland nut is out and it's on there tight.... Also the rings break in to the cylinder walls and the cam beds into the lifters. This all creates a lot of fine metallic swarf in the oil. Completely normal and expected. That’s why the first oil changes need to be shorter intervals. Sent from my iPhone On Feb 9, 2019, at 17:33, Kirin Jacobsen <[email protected]> wrote: Oil was totally metal colored. Sump screen was actually pretty clean, there was a fair bit of goo on the sump plate and some material on the magnetic oil plug. Oil pump actually looks really good. Heres some more photos of the bearings and I'm reasonably sure that the pitting on one of the lifters means they should be replaced. https://scontent.fyka1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/51626504_10161513592440074_6526912270444789760_n.jpg?_nc_cat=101&_nc_ht=scontent.fyka1-1.fna&oh=b9b8dc0a3ac0debf13f14a5df2d5ac89&oe=5CE78F30 https://scontent.fyka1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/51645271_10161513592535074_7318808011084922880_n.jpg?_nc_cat=103&_nc_ht=scontent.fyka1-1.fna&oh=3d013bdd50e52caeb0474ba19af3ce84&oe=5CF79CE1 And yes I'm planning on properly attaching the pickup extension https://scontent.fyka1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/51892059_10161513592615074_8472706637931479040_n.jpg?_nc_cat=108&_nc_ht=scontent.fyka1-1.fna&oh=2a5d84266a9803a9a5df1019bbff2b2f&oe=5CF2499A https://scontent.fyka1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/51685651_10161513592655074_1761470262521364480_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&_nc_ht=scontent.fyka1-1.fna&oh=1c025b3684ae2716341ba9fd2cc3d783&oe=5CB4991F https://scontent.fyka1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/52390016_10161513592715074_4957441764907548672_n.jpg?_nc_cat=107&_nc_ht=scontent.fyka1-1.fna&oh=11438dc6045ddd4a080fa36b5fc8769a&oe=5CEC9A37 https://scontent.fyka1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/51677767_10161513592780074_372134267381088256_n.jpg?_nc_cat=108&_nc_ht=scontent.fyka1-1.fna&oh=798a1bc650e0ef49221c9f7c664ebe22&oe=5CECA506 -Kirin On Sat, Feb 9, 2019 at 1:51 PM Dave C. If you haven't thrown away the filter, open it up and see what it caught. Bigger chunks in the filter screen? Take a look at your gears in the oil pump for sure.
