I was prompted to do this tonight. For what it's worth, I had an easier time of doing this when I used a Bluetooth keyboard to move around, It did take me 2 tries, but that was mainly because I first entered an email address in the optional field and kept getting error messages, then couldn't find a done/continue button, so I started the process over. I finally got everything entered and all is well again. Not sure why you can't use the same email address that is your Apple ID, but oh well.
