Oh, so the Serotek/Hovercam is just a twain-compatible device that will work
with whatever you have as scanning software? Won't the IPhone do this also,
or is the camera thing it comes up as on a machine without Itunes just to
take pictures off?

Hello,
I have read the same comments. I find them hard to believe considering I get
the same conversion quality from Prizmo that I use to get from KNFB. Also,
they could use the video feed to help line up the page before switching to
the still camera for the picture.
If the comments were true, one would expect significant improvement from
programs which supposedly use the camera in the ways they are requesting.
Serotech's DocuScan Plus claims it uses such in its desktop camera, but I do
not see any improvement over running the camera with ABBYY Fine Reader, so
find the argument rather spurious.

I know that Jim Gashel and Mike Hingson are both iPhone users. I expect it
to come at some point. What I have read from mike is that at this time it
is not possible to achieve the functionality of the KNFB reader on the
iPhone because Apple does not give developers enough access to the camera
API.

Hello,
How many iOS device users are willing to pay the $1000 that KNFB Reader
charges for the KNFB Reader on the disappearing Nokia Symbion platform?
I personally get good enough results with Prizmo, and it was only $10. It
took me quite a while with lots of practice to become effective with
Prizmo.

as a previous user of KNFB Mobile Reader and user of the TextScout
from www.textscout.eu I have tried many paid and free OCR apps for the
iphone. Sadly not one has come anywhere close to the awesome
performance of the above two apps. Why are we not being given one?
Surely there are enough iPHONE users who would gladly pay to have a
working app on there iPhone.
With KNFB and TextSCOUT one could read entire books, magazines,
medical bottle labels, small text etc on the go with almost 98 percent
accuracy. None of the iPhone apps are even half as accurate!
Will the powers that be, prevail on these companies to come out with a
version for the iPhone? Please!
If anyone knows of a working OCR app, please share the info.
Many thanks!
