don't forget, that there was also the beyo cbs reader for the nokia phones, which was only around the £80 mark, compared to the stupid price for knfb. so may be, if knfb don't want to know, someone should approach the beyo cbs reader developers, to see if they would be willing to bring out a version for iPhone?

This is a dead issue because clearly KNFB reader users are die hard and those convinced against their will is of the same opinion still. I was a KNFB Reader dealer and stop selling it after I found that they were giving loans to broke people with no way for them to pay it back. The way to win is to create a app that rivals the reader for less and bring it to the market, but playing tennis about what product is better proves worthless. The only way that might not work quite as well is if some technology they license is paid per copy sold, so driving up the number of purchases drives up cost, but some of that is probably solvable in where they price it and getting better prices from their partners as more copies sell. ----- Original Message ----- From: erik burggraaf To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, May 02, 2012 5:03 PM Subject: Re: elusive OCR App! Ridiculous. Lowering prices increases your market. I guarantee you I could sell 30 copies of a knfb mobile app for IPhone at $100, probably to the tune of 10 a month when it first comes out. Where-as even if I were ever a simbian user which I wasn't, I wouldn't even be able to justify the original knfb for simbian myself and I can write it off as a work expense on my income tax. At $100 it would be no question. It's just a different model. In stead of charging a grand and selling it to 10 people, you charge a hundred and sell it to 100 people. Simple. As long as it does what the brochure says it does. Erik Burggraaf Introducing Ebony Consulting business card transcription service, starting at $0.45 per card or $35 per hundred cards. This is their business model. It can be, and usually is, quite difficult for a company to change its core market strategies and focus. You said you would be willing to pay $100 or $200 "maybe" for the KNFB Reader. KNFB Technologies is use to charging $1000 for their product. In other words, you are asking them for a 90% discount for the product. You are asking them to almost give it away. For +95% accuracy with autofocus and autoflash and other tools to make it deadly easy to get a scan and read? Absolutely. It's not as if they have to re-invent the wheel. There are already OCr engines for IOS. Personally, I love the idea of prismo, but even though I'm a reasonably good technology guy, I just can't be assed making it work and most of my clients would be lost, even serious IPhone users. I personally get good enough results with Prizmo, and it was only $10. It took me quite a while with lots of practice to become effective with Prizmo. Sadly not one has come anywhere close to the awesome performance of the above two apps. Why are we not being given one? Surely there are enough iPHONE users who would gladly pay to have a working app on there iPhone. With KNFB and TextSCOUT one could read entire books, magazines, medical bottle labels, small text etc on the go with almost 98 percent accuracy. None of the iPhone apps are even half as accurate! Will the powers that be, prevail on these companies to come out with a version for the iPhone? Please! If anyone knows of a working OCR app, please share the info.
