Whenever you buy electronics to use with Apple products from a source other 
than Apple, you are always at risk of the "not supported" message.
I've never had problems with cords, but chargers, external batteries, car 
chargers, and so on will work for a while and then become no longer supported.
I don't know whether Apple does this or not, but it has happened to me more 
than once.
