I don't have the paid version either but I don't have any issue getting out of any ad. I just double tap on something on the ad screen as I recall.

With a bit of exploration, it's useable. I labelled a lot of those buttons but didn't keep my subscription so no longer have the app. I found that I already have the vast majority of music I want to hear, and the combination of the unlabelled buttons in iOS, and the really horrible experience in Windows meant I decided to give it up.
