You should be able to convert the P D F file to an e Pub file by using Stanza for desktop. If you do not have it on your computer, it is a free download. Here is a link:
http://stanza-desktop.en.softonic.com/ Open the P D F in stanza, go to the file menu and go to export as. Now select E Pub and save the file . Now place the e Pub file you just made via the file sharing section of iTunes.
