You may get better results by throwing it over to the virtual printer in Kurzweill 1000 to get an OCR that way. I don't have Openbook so I have no clue if it also offers this feature. If K1000 is at all able to convert anything, then you could probably do a lot more things with the file from there including converting it to a format that will play nice with iBooks.
