What I am wondering now is what if you have a tun of apps in folders and you reset the home screen and there are not enough home screens for all the apps then where will they go if resetting the home screen makes the folders go away?

Thank you all for the answers. Since he doesn't have his apps in
folders (yet) this works for him! It wouldn't work for me either with my iPhone or iPad as I have folders and like organizing my apps in to folders, plus I've told him eventually he'll need to put them into folders as he'll run out of Home screens. He's used to Android where apps are organized and he has unlimited space for them on his phone.
But, believe it or not, he likes an iPad better than his android
running tablet.

no it takes them all out of the folders.
You can manually alphabetize the folders by moving them if you like.

Hi Don,

That sounds great, but before I do this, I want to know one thing: does it also put folders in alphabetical order? I wouldn't want things to be
removed from the folders I worked so hard to create.

Hi,

If you want to get all your apps, starting on the second page which is where all your purchased apps will start, go into setting, then general, then reset. Once there double tap the reset home screen button. You'll be prompted to be sure you want to do that so tap ok and all your apps will be arranged alphabetically with a starting on page 2 and so on.

I actually lost one of the default icons for messaging on the main page and the home screen reset brought it back as well as giving me a clean
app arrangement.

Hello All,

My fiance wanted me to ask you if you all knew how to get the apps in
alphabetical order.

that is is there a way to do it without having to sync his iPad with
iTunes on the computer?

Many thanks.
