It sounds like either your phone, your mom's phone or both are not connected to the internet. When one or both of the phones doing the iMessaging don't have internet, the phone will send it as a text if you have it set up that way. Another thing that could be happening is that either you, your mom or both turned off iMessaging in there settings.

Hi all. I'm having an i-message issue. I'm trying to send one to my mother but it only offers text messaging. Mom has an IPhone like I do and in the message history there is a mix of i-messages and text messages that I was able to send. Can anyone provide any information as to what I can try or have her try to be able to get this feature back? I-messages work with other
