Pete, I assume when you say Voiceover interrupted your call you meant it was reading out the call duration? This can happen if the screen is unlocked and Voiceover focus is on the call duration. You can just swipe right once to move Voiceover away from that. It's a bit of a bug and it can be annoying if you use a headset and have your phone in a backpack or put away somewhere. I suggest you write an email to [email protected], I am pretty sure they would have received a few mails about this and the more they get the more likely this will be fixed in a few months when iOS 6 comes out.
