As with any other organization taken over by fundamentalist fanatics there is no argument that will persuade such individuals. Unfortunately there are again as with any other endeavor a few guide dog schools and guide dog users who give everyone else a bad name by some of the practices they engage in.

I only found out after having a conversation about getting a dog guide. He flat out told me that I should not be allowed to use a dog in that manner. any argument to the contrary was met with the same old tired line: animals are not slaves. I basically had to tell him that if he became blind, that he might understand my position better. not only did he say that nothing could make him blind, he still wouldn't allow the use of a guide dog. I ended up walking away shaking my head at his unbelievable ignorance. PETA is one of those organizations that started out with good intentions and has morphed into a radical animal rights front. The one thing I took away from this: there is no reasoning with a fanatic. they only understand force. -eric On Jul 24, 2012, at 7:08 AM, Michael Malver wrote: > And you probably won't find an app to replace your dog either. Sure, I can find a gps tool to tell me what buildings are near me, and what streets are coming up, but only a guidedog can walk you through large puddles while managing to keep its own feet dry by pulling away from what you just walked through. > And no, I'm nt complaining. It doesn't matter how well the creature is treated. I have a Seeing Eye dog, and I haven't found an app for my iPhone that would replace him. He seems quite happy and in fact eager to guide me where I need to go. > > Just my thoughts on the topic. > > Kevin Minor, Lexington, KY, President, Bluegrass Council of the Blind. > kmi...@windstream.net > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. > To search the VIPhone public archive, visit http://www.mail-archive.com/viphone@googlegroups.com/. > To post to this group, send email to viphone@googlegroups.com. > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to viphone+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > For more options, visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/viphone?hl=en. > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group.
