Hi Deidre;

Starting with the 5s and up you can use Verizon's iPhone on any other cell 
carrier.

I used my Verizon iPhone 5s on AT&T with no problem.

Also, if you buy an unlocked iPhone you will probably not get the discounted 
price you would get with Verizon.

I was pleasantly surprised at the knowledge most of the Apple employees have.

I'm sure their is at least one employee in your local Apple Store who is aware 
of Voiceover.
