Are these scanners only? or do they also have a way to access a database of
results. I ask because I am sure that there are Bluetooth scanners that only
send the data to the iDevice, but what do you do with the scan from there? My
thought would be to go ahead and buy the Digit-Eyes app, which uses the camera
of the iDevice. I think there are Bluetooth scanners that were tested with the
app some time ago, but, remember, the Bluetooth scanner is one more piece of
hardware to be transported. JMO.

Subject: Another Option - Re: Digit-Eyes or ID Mate Quest?

Some time ago someone mentioned the Koam Tac laser scanners, which could work
with bluetooth for use with the iPhone. Has anyone had much experience with
these? I think the price was much less than the ID Mate.
I've been seriously considering making the investment.

One thing to note is that Digit-Eyes works very well if you use it
correctly, but a barcode scanner will always be quite a lot faster. So, if you
don't want to take up to a minute or three to get an item identified, then go
for the Quest.
If you go with Digit-Eyes, remember to place the camera on or very close to
the item, then slowly pull back so the auto-focus can kick in. You also have to
get good at knowing about where the barcode is located on the item.
A barcode scanner does not need to focus and can scan significantly faster.
If you have the $1300 to spend on the Quest, spend $20 on Digit-EYES to see
if it meets your needs f/)
    Just my opinion,

      HI folks.

Putting the price difference aside for a moment, what would you folks
recommend for bar code scanning? An app like Digit-eyes, or a dedicated device
like the ID Mate Quest?

P.S. It would be neat if KNFBReader could do this.
