Nope, and the tech at Apple’s 6 didn’t either. It only is silent in the app you
are in when you double tap. No big deal, if it is no longer there it is no
longer there. I’ll just swipe up to close or not bother to close it, as Alex
suggests, or swipe back to the left to see what else is open then go back.
Goodbye verbosity and back scrubs in tune in radio.

I did learn a few things though about the phone learning my speech over time
and about location tracking which I had never done before, and I’m not the only
one who hits on the number 9 which I’ve just heard and had it enter another
number instead. Now I have to pay closer attention to when vo cuts out and what
specifically I am trying to do or move to when that happens. Now it’s time to
go transfer some files into Drop Box.

On my iPhone 5 with the latest iOS update, when I double-click home to access
that's what shirt, it reads out ma running since I am on the mail application
when i accessed the app switcher. Yours doesn't Announce the name of the app?

I did that cause I didn’t like it when It did it on the old phone. Now though I
really wish it would tell me what app I’m in when I hit the app switcher even
though I’m not brain fogged enough not to know! I like the verbal verification.

Now I see the scrub gesture does not work in Tune-In Radio. It worked on the 4S
just fine and with the same version of iOS. I am very unhappy right now. I need
the phone to save me time and effort by not having to do any more gestures than
necessary. I am going to plug Apple’s Accessibility number into my phone now
and call them. Today I tried to get directions to where I was going for the
person who was taking me. I dictated the address and knew it knew my location,
and gave it clearance to access all that, but it kept trying to take me to
Fitchberg, not to a place less than a mile away. I need to learn which app
works best for this sort of thing cause I’m not sure what the default gps is.
Google Maps?

One area in which I need to get up to speed is with how to
clear all that stuff Siri brings up. It seemed I used to just go to a different
app and she didn’t always have to open an app to get info. Now I can’t get out
of there easily and vo often stops working after I’ve used Siri.

Oh, one last thing. When I dictate or even manually input in a
name for a contact, if the pronunciation is really off, what is the best way to
change it? Should I spell it out phonetically so I hear it the way I want to
hear it or is there a better way. Once I heard Siri say “can you teach me to
say that” but it seemed to be a rhetorical question and not a specific function
she could perform. I’m not talking about asking her to create a contact because
she can’t do that.
