I have been hunting for a facial recognition app that would let me mount a web cam or something like it and then my iphone would be able to tell me who is at the door if I had previously identified my family and friends.
Is this perhaps what the originator of this thread was thinking of? Does such a thing exist? I have found lots of apps that will unlock your phone or even certain apps using facial recognition technology but nothing like what I am looking for. Are you thinking of something which would you let you unlock your door with your iPhone? When I think of a door bell I think of a very simple device which has a button and a bell/ringer. A person comes to your door, pushes the button and the bell dings or dongs or rings or whatever so you know somebody is at your door. Such devices traditionally were wired, but many wireless options are out there now which have a button that has a battery in it and it sends the signal to the bell/ringer wirelessly. This does, however, not require WiFi connectivity, it's just like a remote where a signal is transmitted by one device and received by another.
