Hi Andrew, I've been able to do just as you say - open a file in Writer, make changes, then open that file on my computer and edit. I've also started a file on the computer and opened it in Writer. I wonder if you have multiple edits and might have better luck if you deleted all but the most recent one.
I have had a problem where the last thing I typed in Writer wasn't saved. I wish there was a way to close a file when I'm done with it in Writer, but the only option seems to be opening a different file. Sorry I can't be of more help.
