Hi.
You can also buy a da converter that enables you to connect digital
audio to the converter and from the converter you can use rca analog
cables to your stereo. That way you do not need to have the tv on for
playing music or youtube videos. However, if you  want to have the
audio from a movie e.g. from netflix, you have to have the hdmi
connection active.
I have bought a Arcam dA converter with remote control with 2 toslink
in and 2 digital coaxial in as well as 2 usb connections in. And then
it has rca and line out.
