I have an iPhone 5 an a new Plantronics Voyager Edge and the dictation
stinks. Siri ALWAYS gets it wrong, in fact, never gets it right. I have
started reaching up and switching off the headset when dictating and
turning it back on when I am finished.

I have an iPhone 5 S with a Plantronics voyager headset. I guess I should
call it an earpiece, since it's just one, not to ear phones. I have had this
for a while, so I know it is not the latest and greatest. I mostly have use
this quite successfully when out in coffee shops or restaurants or other
public places, where I want to read email or articles, or surf the web or
whatever. However, lately, I have actually tried using it for dictation,
say, to answer mail, or to use Siri. And the results have been hideous. It
just never works. I have tried the home button to activate Siri. I have
tried double tapping the dictation button to activate dictation. I think
once, I even tried hitting a button on the earpiece to see if that would
work. What usually happens is I get the two beeps followed almost
immediately by the one beep indicating that dictation or Siri is closed.
Sometimes I get a crash. Sometimes the headset connects and disconnects.
And, the audio starts sounding quite strange, rather like an old telephone
connection. It just doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this
something that should be fixed if I got a new earpiece and my new phone
which should be here in a couple of weeks?
