Last night I upgraded my iPhone 5 from 7.whatever to 8.4.1 since I realized it
was my last chance to do so without having to go to 9. Then I downloaded the
Plantronics Hub app and now the Voyager Edge does dictation and Siri fine again.

Subject: Re: Bluetooth earpiece and dictation or using Siri

I don't know if this helps, but whenever I'm talking to someone on an earpiece
with an adjustable microphone, the intelligibility suffers as soon as that mic
is no longer in line with their mouth.

Mary, I would venture to say that it is the fault of your ear piece. I have
the Bose ear piece, and the Bose bluetooth headphones, and use them with Siri
and dictation with good success. Let me say this. If there is a good bit of
background noise, it might take a little longer. It certainly isn't as fast as
using the apple ear phones or something else with a chord, but, I am quite
satisfied with my results from both of these bose products. I hope this helps.

call it an earpiece, since it's just one, not to ear phones. I have had this
for a while, so I know it is not the latest and greatest. I mostly have use
this quite successfully when out in coffee shops or restaurants or other public
places, where I want to read email or articles, or surf the web or whatever.
However, lately, I have actually tried using it for dictation, say, to answer
mail, or to use Siri. And the results have been hideous. It just never works. I
have tried the home button to activate Siri. I have tried double tapping the
dictation button to activate dictation. I think once, I even tried hitting a
button on the earpiece to see if that would work. What usually happens is I get
the two beeps followed almost immediately by the one beep indicating that
dictation or Siri is closed. Sometimes I get a crash. Sometimes the headset
connects and disconnects. And, the audio starts sounding quite strange, rather
like an old telephone connection. It just doesn't work. Am I doing something
wrong? Or is this something that should be fixed if I got a new earpiece and my
new phone which should be here in a couple of weeks?
