Hi Eleanor,
It should be possible to downgrade to iOS 8.4.1 at this point, but chances are this may only work for a few more days. I don’t want this to be an “I told you so” message, but your situation is exactly why I had sent my warning message the night before iOS 9 was to be released and why it’s a good idea not to jump onto an update the minute it’s available. This Bluetooth issue was documented by Jonathan in his message yesterday morning and probably also in the list of reported bugs on Applevis. If you don’t want to downgrade you will just have to live with it until Apple does fix it which could be in 2 weeks, in 2 months or next March for all we know. If you depend on external keyboard entry that much you really might want to consider going back to iOS 8.4.1. Hi. Well I've had trouble using both an Apple keyboard and a Logitech keyboard. They need to fix it ASAP, as at the moment it's useless for people like me who are totally blind. Yes, I could try to type with VO turned off, but I'd always be very nervous as I wouldn't know what I was typing, whether I was still in the right place, etc etc. + there'd be a million and one typos!! Desperately hope that if enough people report it Apple might finally wake up and smell the coffee so-to-speak where these bugs are concerned and sort them out. I had particular problems using Apple's own keyboarde too! <Smiles> Carol P ----- Original Message ----- From: Jonathan Mosen <mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 17, 2015 9:18 PM Subject: Re: Inability to type with bluetooth keyboard in iOS9? I run a private email list for registered developers who test iOS, and it was quite common there. It was also reported extensively. It does trouble me that issues so critical were extensively reported, but not addressed before release. But this is the third year things like this have happened now, so I guess it is what it is. I didn't see this in my own testing, though I don't really use a bluetooth keyboard often. I didn't hear about anyone else running into this one either, and I talked to several testers during the beta cycle. I'm not doubting it happens, I just want to try to figure out why it happens. I'm going to be asked by some TVIs and other people whether they should upgrade the devices of their students and clients, and I am not sure what to tell them about this bug. Any information you can provide would be appreciated.
