If you are running a version of iOS 9, you can bring up spotlight search by
either first touching any app on any home screen (excluding apps in the dock)
and then swiping down with 3 fingers. You can also get to Spotlight search from
your first home screen by swiping left to right with 3 fingers. Think of
Spotlight search as page 0 or as a page to the left of your first home screen.
If you are still on iOS 8 or earlier, you can only use the first method, i.e.
touch an app on any home screen and swipe down with 3 fingers.

Is spot lite supposed to work on all iDevices? I tried swiping down rite and
nothing happened. Swiping down I heard app 1 of 1 center of screen and I was
swiping on the rite side of the screen. Swiping from left to rite says the
same thing. I used an iPod 5th generation and an iPhone 4 s to try this. Any
suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

I just did this on a 4S running iOs 7.something, and you're right, amazing what
we turn up. Found my full name and postcode, which was a bit more disturbing,
privacy is clearly a moot point.

Until iOS 9, I never took interest in the Spotlight feature on iOS. Now it's
even more powerful and smarter in most cases, I really think it's lovely now to
do a global search on iOS. Why not try it for yourself by swiping with three
fingers either down or to the right from the home screen. Happy searching!
