OK, I've found the solution. I Googled this, and it's my kind of workaround,
since I was trained in DOS. Basically just create however many vcf files you
need, then make sure they are all in an easy-to-find folder. In my case,
they're all in c:\downloads.

Use Windows R to get the Run dialog box and type cmd. You're now in the command
prompt.
Because this lands you within the Windows directory, type cd\ to get to the
root of the C drive.
Then type cd downloads. You'll of course replace the word downloads with
whatever folder name you need to. You should get a response back that you're in
the right folder.
type copy *.vcf all.vcf
or whatever you want to call the new .vcf file. This reads all of the files
that have this extention, and writes one long file with everything in it. Now
you need only e-mail this one file to your device. Once you click on the
attachment, the alert will say, for instance, add twelve contacts. Once you get
past this alert, you can make new contacts or merge. In my case, all will be
new.
