Hi Patti, Go to Settings/General/VoiceOver/Braille.
Choose Braille Display Input. Your choices should be Uncontracted 6-dot braille (which is Grade 1 braille), uncontracted 8-dot brialle (which is computer braille, with no translation), and Contracted Braille (which is translated braille, using UEB or English Grade 2 or whichever code you've chosen). The final choice on this screen is Automatic Braille Translation. It is dimmed if you've chosen uncontracted 8-dot braille. For typing in a login, you're probably best off if you choose uncontracted 8-dot braille and type the login using computer braille. That way, there's no translation involved. Once you have a feel for how translation works, you can use it and contracted braille in any edit field. I hope that's of some help.
