I'm curious about these ringtones that you say show up on your phone and in iTunes but that only play in iTunes.
Go into your clock app and set up a timer event for a minute and see what tones are available to play at the end of the event. Are the new ones recently transferred that you've been posting about included in the list of tones from which to choose? If so, does a sample of them play during this process? Do the tones provided by apple with your device present and play during this timer event setup process? I've found that setting up a quick timer event is the easiest way to test available tones and I'm curious what you see when you try this.
