As Robin pointed out, you can link to a music library and this can contain really anything in MP3 or AAC format (Sonos also supports other formats such as FLAC etc.). There is also an option to play content from "On this iPhone" and this would be anything you sync to your phone and that is accessible to the music app. Which player do you have? The Play 5 also has the ability to hook up any device which has a 3.5mm or RCA output.
