Trying to reach the developer is definitely an option, but if the app hasn’t been updated in 2 years or more that is usually enough for me to abandon an app unless it’s something simple which just works and which may not benefit from new API’s and features which are possible in newer iOS releases.

The latest instance was after iOS 9.2 came out even though I'm still running iOS 8.3. I've found uninstalling and reinstalling the Shiprack app fixes this problem for me in past occurrences.
