Hi chermeen,

I can't explain the difference in storage space and space available. One thing
which would most likely fix this might be to set up the phone as a new phone
and start over downloading your apps and so on. Of course you would want to
make sure you save any pictures you may have first.

As for the 6S I can say that it's definitely noticeable faster than my old 5S,
probably you would notice a bit of a different compared to a 6, but possibly
not with all things.

As for backing up, you will get the most complete backup if you do an encrypted
backup in iTunes, you should definitely get backups of your text messages and
voice mails.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Storage issues, upgrading, and voice memo transfers

Hi all,

The requisite apologies in advance for only blasting on in here when I need
something, and also for asking questions that have likely been asked.

1. I am currently using an IPhone 6 with 16 gb of storage. That said, I seem to
be getting frequent messages telling me that I'm running out of disk space.
When I check my storage stats, however, I am told that I am using 10.9 gb, and
that I have 761 mb available. Math has never been my strong point, but that
doesn't total 16 gb. I know that the software on the phone takes up a certain
amount of space, but does it account for the discrepancy here?

2. In light of my storage issues and for a few other reasons, I am considering
switching to an IPhone 6S plus 64 GB (despite the preposterous price tag). I am
wondering if people who have had experience with both the 6 and 6S models have
noticed any discernable difference, aside from the 3d touch options i.e.
improvement in battery life, faster VO response, less sluggishness, speaker
quality, etc.?

3. Last question. When I was switching from the IPhone 5 to the 6, I backed
everything up on the cloud, but for the life of me could not get my voice memos
to transfer. I e-mailed some of them to myself, although there didn't appear to
be a way to have them become voice memos again on the new phone--they were
simply opened as attachments, but I was never given the option of retaining
them on the new device and storing them as voice memos in the voice memos app.
Any idea as to how to best transfer voice memos and keep them as such on the
new device if I do take the plunge?

Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

Shermeen
