Thanks for your response, Sieghard. I am terrified of all things iTunes, and I know I'll really need to conquer that fear if I'm to do any encrypted back-ups. I wonder if there are any apps that will help clean the extra files from your device--I'd heard of kruptos being one, but was not able to find it in the app store.
Thanks also for your comments on the 6s. Right now, the 6s plus is 658 from pretty much all Canadian providers, and that's on contract! that said, it may be necessary so we'll see.
