You can also load the Rockbox firmware onto an iPod Classic. Although
Rockbox wasn't written just to be used by the blind, it has enough eyes
free support that a blind person can use it. Check out rockbox.org for
more information.

Hi Terri,
An iPod Classic is an audio player for music, audiobooks, and similar
files. It does not have VoiceOver. Some blind people have used them by
memorizing menu structures, but that is the only way to access them if
you can't see the screen. The iPod Classic also has no way to connect to
the Internet or run apps. You would have to use a computer to load content.
Best,
Anna

Hello everyone,
I was wondering, what exactly is an IPod
Classic?
Are they worth purchasing?
How exactly would a totally blind person use them?
I found a 38 gig one for 80 dollars. I asked the guy who is selling
it, if it may have voiceover. He said that he did not think so,
because there is no speaker. He says that there is a wheel that clicks
when you turn it.
But how would you know where you were at, or how would you get to
where you wanted to go?
This sounds like a good deal to me, if it would work for me. I would
love to have an IPod Touch.
However, I really just want to be able to listen to my books, music,
audio movies, and audio tv. I have apps I need, on my phone. And I
also have Netflix, for other things.
So what do you all think?
Any thoughts, or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Terri
