Yes, you can sign in to Audible with your Amazon email and password.

If you are new to Audible you get 1 book for free. After this you have to
either buy books at full price or buy a membership. There are basically 4 kinds
of membership although one could say there are only 2 kinds and each one can be
paid either monthly or you can prepay it. Here is how it works:

Audible Gold Membership:

$14.95 per month and this gives you 1 credit each month. Most book are 1 credit
so basically it is $14.95 per book as well.

There are very few books which require 2 credits, but I haven’t come across any
in a long time.

This means you get 12 credits per year and if you pay monthly it works out to
12 * $14.95 which is $179.40 for the year.

You can also buy AudibleListener® Gold Annual for $149.50 for 12 credits or
$12.46 per credit.

Platinum membership:

$22.95 per month and this gives you 2 credits each month. Since most book are 1
credit you get 2 books per month for that which works out to $11.48 per book.

This means you get 24 credits per year and if you pay monthly it works out to
12 * $22.95 which is $275.40 for the year.

You can roll over up to 12 credits as long as your membership is active and you
get a free subscription to the audio version of either the New York Times or
the Wall Street Journal.

You can also buy AudibleListener® Platinum Annual for $229.50 for 24 credits
or $9.56 per credit.

If you have either the Gold or Platinum membership (monthly or prepaid) you
also get 30% off all books if you want to buy extra books.

However, what is a more important benefit of the membership is access to all
sorts of specials. You can sign up for the daily special which sends you an
email each day with one book which is usually anywhere from $1.95 to $5.95.
Sometimes I go for weeks without finding anything, but there is usually
something there once or twice a month I like and which I can then pick up for a
few Dollars.

There are also other promotions like sometimes you can buy 2 books for 1 credit
or 2 books for 3 credits and these you usually have to pick from a list of a
few hundred books or sometimes they may have a sale where all the first books
of a series are on for $4.95 and they again give you a list of a few dozen
series to choose from in different categories like SciFi and Fantasy, Mysteries
and Thrillers, Fiction, Non-Fiction etc.

If you can prepay for either gold or Platinum you get the best deal and if you
buy some other books on sale for $4 to $6 you can probably get your average
book price down to around $8. For me this is well worth it since the quality of
the readers is usually great and often newly published books are available the
same day in Audible as they are available in print in the bookstore or as an
eBook.

Lastly, if you read a lot (more than 24 books a year) you can renew the annual
plans any time even though they say “annual”. For example, if I buy 24 credits
for $229.50 and use them in 5 months I could renew then and buy another 24
credits for $229.50.

Audible sometimes also offers you 3 extra credits for the per credit price of
whatever plan you have. For example, right now I have the monthly Platinum plan
for $22.95 ($11.48 per credit). I have used up the 2 credits from last months
and have to wait until around the 22nd of the month which is usually when I get
my new credits. However, right now I could buy an extra 3 credits for 3 *
$11.47 = $34.41 and this way I can get more books for the same price per credit
I normally pay which in most cases is much better than buying extra books even
with the 30% membership discount. Many unabridged novels are still $20 or more
even after the 30% discount.

Sieghard

Subject: Re: Still Can't Login to Audible

As we are talking about Audible, I have a question. I had problems also logging
in, but it was their capcha. I called them and somehow we got in. Still have no
idea except I didn't have a username or password on file with them, though some
years ago I had put them in. The gentleman read me the capcha and I

put it in, but it still indicated I was not logged in. He asked me to find
someone sighted to help, and because I was frustrated I said I would. When he
and I disconnected I was logged in under my Amazon creds. Anyway, my question
is, do I have to have a monthly subscription? I find nothing about this on the
website. I was able to get a "credit" to get one book. It says I will get
another credit next month. Can I just buy when I want as on Amazon with Kindle
or must I buy a book each month? When I have a credit again, does that entitle
me to another book? All new to me, and the site is not very specific. Thanks
for any help given.

Thank you, Sieghard, for your careful explanation. I used to have no problems
with the Audible app until the version prior to this newest release. That one
stopped working - wouldn't download - so I deleted and re-installed the app. I
can get as far as typing in my email address. Then if I swipe right, or just
slide my finger down, VoiceOver says "Password, secure, double-tap to edit."
When I double-tap, the phone makes a couple of short sounds I don't know how to
describe. The editfield does not open, and the keyboard disappears. I can see
the "Continue button, the "forgot password link, conditions of use, and the
"Need help? Contact Customer Support" button. I contacted Customer support
yesterday, both by phone and email. The representative I spoke with had me go
through troubleshooting steps I had already done: removing and re-installing
the app and powering the phone off and back on, all to no avail. I'm supposed
to get a call back from someone in their "back office team" today. We'll see.
