Thanks, Cher. I'll make sure I have all my playlists created before moving to iTunes 12 but I'm sure I'll come across many missing iTunes 11 features I'll lament after I take the plunge.

You can easily edit and re-arrange playlists under V11; but during the V12 series, much of that functionality has been lost- and Apple does not seem to care. Cher -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Alan Lemly Sent: Sunday, March 20, 2016 1:35 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: siri opening apps Richard, Oh, I know it's inevitable that I'll have to move to iTunes 12 and its progeny at some point because I intend to keep updating my iPhone which will come with the latest iOS and will require the latest iTunes.. However, I like to use my iPhones for a minimum of two years and at this point, there are no must-have apps out there which require iOS 9.x. I know I'm more than a bit of a dinosaur, but I've found from my 34+ years of using personal computers and technology that I know what's best for me as to the timing of upgrades and that the hardware and app developers are mainly interested in getting my money as soon as and as often as possible rather than making sure I have a seamless use of said technology. I ought not to have doubted your reasoning. However, that does leave you open for more headaches in some areas. I know a few apps have made updates that only work under iOS 9. I cannot remember which ones I read that in their what's new notes, but since I was running iOS 9.2.1, I didn't worry about it. It kind of sounds like you are "darned if you do and darned if you don't." And since Itunes 12 was required for use with devices running Ios 8.4 or higher introduced with Apple Music, I'm holding steady with iOS 8.3 until I come across a more compelling reason to upgrade.
