That does make sense.  I ought not to have doubted your reasoning.

However, that does leave you open for more headaches in some areas.

I know a few apps have made updates that only work under iOS 9.  I cannot 
remember which ones I read that in their what's new notes, but since I was 
running iOS 9.2.1, I didn't worry about it.

It kind of sounds like you are "darned if you do and darned if you don't."

Actually, I'm a big fan of the iTunes sidebar which was discontinued with 
iTunes 12. And since Itunes 12 was required for use with devices running Ios 
8.4 or higher introduced with Apple Music, I'm holding steady with iOS 8.3  
until I come across a more compelling reason to upgrade.
