I have a 5S iPhone, IOS9.3.2 and have, I think, precisely, the opposite problem. I use the iPhone very rarely for anything but playing a time-wasting/filling : game take your pick: so I scarcely ever need mobile data, but there is the very rare occasion when I do take the iPhone more than a hundred metres away from home base. On these rare occasions, I have only been in the car for a few moments, when I am given the message that Siri/voice-over or whatever it is, cannot make a connection. Do I have to remember to switch on mobile data manually or is there a setting whereby I can instruct the iPhone to turn on mobile data when its wifi connection is getting a bit shaky and then, when it came back into range, it should switch it off? I do recall switching on M D yonks ago and then forgetting to switch it off, which I did only when my credit started to evaporate at an alarming speed. If it is something that I have to do manually, how much time/distance am I given or can I switch it on at any time. When the iPhone is in this configuration, does it connect with the nearest cell tower like mobile phones do?

I have IPhone5S with IOS9.3.2. I can not determine the status of Automatically Use Cellular Data When Wi-fi-Connectivity is Poor in Settings. VoiceOver doesn’t say whether it is on or off, I want to keep it on off status. How can I keep it off permanently, please?
