I think these weird pronunciations are tied to the specific speech synthesizer 
in use. Might be wrong, but that's what I think based on observation. I used to 
love pronunciation dictionaries. I spent a long time perfecting the one I had 
for a speech synthesizer in the K-1 thousand program. Then that speech 
synthesizer went away. And I just never got back to it. I think what they 
should do is simply let you see the abbreviation as it is and figured out for 
yourself. Override any speech synthesizer preferences and just give me what is 
written on the page, just like with the sighted people see.
