You may be right in that it will never happen, but this doesn't have to
be the case with software. It's just a case of priorities, schedules and
resources. If Apple gets it right after four months, as you say, then
they could get it right on the day of the release by doing things like
starting earlier, releasing later, putting more resources on
development, testing and bug fixing or freeing up more resources to find
and fix bugs by putting less new content into a release. Bottom line is
that this is not intrinsic with software, it's the result of business
decisions being made. Note that many software companies make business
decisions to release on time at all costs, save money by spending less
on development or test resources and focusing on a large feature list to
look good to customers and reviewers.
