I hate this kind of presumption of these sytems too,  this is classic geekism 
buried so deep in their coding environment, they can't 
see out of the box far enough to see the wider impact.  so, yes;  toggle it 
off,  or just do without even;  we can work it out, 
we're human.

As for worst mis-pronunciation, it must go to Dolphin's Hal, in the early days, 
and bearing in mind, this was  one of the more 
popular careers for the blind - physiotherapist, pr:  physio'the'rapist.
