OK, I guess you just have to abandon the Third Party keyboard and use the original keyboard, pasting to whatever item you want. I would do that rather than not having mBraille at all.

That would be a great idea, Carol, but absolutely nothing works with the 3rd
party keyboard! It is totally incompatible with my phone! Every time I try
typing anything from it, it disappears almost immediately. In other words, it
consistently crashes, no matter what. I don't know if it hates my phone or if
my phone hates it, but it's one or the other. I figured if it would work on one
phone, it would work on another, but obviously not.

I'm so glad I h the Braille Screen Input! And if Apple would fix it to where it
spoke when typing in contracted Braille, I wdn't ever care about another
keyboard again! Smile!

TThe last I ever heard from Harri on the subject, soon after the Third Party
keyboard came in, was that some apps worked and some, it was found, were better
not to use it. Perhaps you should take this approach and see what never crashes
and avoid those that do!

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions, Carol! It's not what I want but am
thankful that there are so many workarounds.

I know my message got to the MBraille list because I saw it. :) There's
probably nothing anyone can do, but it would be interesting to hear Harri's
thoughts. Of course, I know people are busy and have lives and everything, so
trying not to be a pain or be impatient. After all, I have the regular MBraille
keyboard, as well as the trusty Braille screen input. :)

Thanks, all! Will let you know if I figure out or learn a solution.

I must admit, though I do quite often use the Third Party part of the keyboard,
I do have more occasions when something happens to my text and/or I can't get
the keyboard to set to the next (perhaps I need to use the onboard one at that
time for example but the option to select another keyboard is not given) The
problem with the above senario is that then, as soon as I go into an editbox,
and it may be just very briefly and I don't actually want to write in it, the
keyboard believes it does have to kick in!

Hmm! Just another thought on this: The Third Party keyboard is, as I understand it,
writing in "real time" so it may be that you're just writing too quickly for
things to stay as they ought. At least on that phone you may consider ensuring that the
mBraille keyboard is in fact as strategically placed as possible so you can go for that,
rather than the Third Party option.

I know that isn't what you want to do, just as I'd rather not have problems
with mine from time to time, but this may give you a few things to consider.

Hope it might help a little.

BTW: if you still haven't had any responses from the list itself, it may be
that your message didn't get there, or Harri hasn't seen it. If he had, he'd
almost certainly respond, but he doesn't always have time to see all messages
these days, I don't think.

Anyway, let me know if you find a solution and I'll keep my brain ticking as
long as it can ...

Cheers now.

Hi Richard and Carol,

Thanks for getting back to me. Each time I reinstall the app, I go to shop and
restore purchases, which gives me access to everything as I purchased the full
package. And it restores with no problem. However, no matter what I'm
doing...texting, writing a note, or working with email...the results are the
same. The rest of the MBraille app works just fine. As for the 3rd party
keyboard, it will let me begin typing but I never know for how long. Sometimes
it's a few characters and sometimes I can get a few words. Suddenly without
warning it is gone, taking what I have written with it. I have no idea why this
keyboard seems to be incompatible with my SE!

And, did you make sure it had full access in the keyboard settings?

OK. I don't have an answer but will give it a little more thought for
you if you can think about when it's crashed. In what apps were you
working at the time? Were you trying to transfer information at that
stage? Anything else you can say may help me, or others, to find an
answer for you.

Cheers.

Hi all,

I am having a problem with the MBraille 3rd party keyboard crashing on my
iPhone SE. It does just fine on my 6S. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it
numerous times on the SE to no avail. I am running the latest version of the
MBraille app and the latest version of IOS. I have written to the MBraille list
but haven't heard anything from them yet. Just thought I'd check to see if
anyone here had any suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able
to give me! I'm not having any other crashes on my SE, and the MBraille
keyboard doesn't crash on my other phone. Hmmm.
